Comments about today's news headlines

I was reading just the news headlines today and wondering if I’m living in some alternate universe.  Here are some of the questions and thoughts I had as I scanned the headlines:

• Something to Hide?  Official Pleads Fifth on “Furious” High ranking federal Justice Department official will plead the fifth before committee investigating the “Fast & Furious” failed operation of ATF.  How can this be?  Why is it necessary to plead the fifth?  Remember, we have been told that this administration is the most open and transparent in political history.
• CYBER WAR: Feds SHUT DOWN file-sharing website; No trial, no due process...  Isn’t there something in that pesky Constitution and Bill of Rights that prohibits this sort of thing?  Now I remember, the president and his administration have no problem skirting around the Constitution if it gets in the way.
• Redford slaps Romney as Sundance film fest opens Who made Redford or any other Hollywood character an expert on policy or politics?  And why would this be headline news?  Boggles the mind.
• After raising income taxes 67% -- IL still $8.5B in debt... and CA gov calls for tax rises... How is that liberal democrat socialist state government working out for you?  Probably not an issue for most residents and illegal aliens living in these states because only those with jobs and income are paying the taxes to support them.
• Homeland Security pushes to cancel more than 1,600 deportations  This is only a few of the nearly 12 thousand pending cases involving illegal immigrants not jailed by federal authorities as part of an Obama administration pledge to focus on criminal illegal immigrants and those who pose a national security or public safety threat.  I guess being “illegal” does not make it a crime.  In my mind that is about the same as being partially pregnant.
• Should felons be able to vote?  No!
• Obama Unveils Defense Cuts While Iran Threatens War I call this the ostrich ploy.  Stick our heads in the sand and maybe it will go away.
