Apathetic about this election cycle

A really good friend of mine is becoming apathetic about the political situation here in the US.  His feeling is that it really doesn't matter which party is in power, they both are incapable of resolving the issues of today.  And  we as citizens do not seem to have any influence no matter what we do.  The following is my note to him stating why I think this election cycle is the most important in our lifetime.

XXXXXX, my concern is mainly the possibility of the re-election of O and all that he would do in a second term.  Without having the possibility of a third term he will go full out socialist/Marxist.  There are a lot of issues that I have with this administration. 

1. My grandchildren are going to have to carry our national debt on their shoulders if we cannot stem this uncontrolled spending.  I’m willing take my chances with any of the current contenders for republican president because I know that O would continue to increase the national debt.
2. O is trying to do away with our Second Amendment rights.  His plan is to agree to the tenets of the Small Arms Treaty being pushed by the United Nations.  His plan is to do this by bypassing congress whose constitutional duty is to ratify the treaty. He has stated that he will do what he considers is in the best interest of the country, if that means he has to ignore the constitution and the legislative branch of the government, through presidential proclamation.
3. It was clear in his State of the Union address that he wants to re-distribute wealth of the nation by taking money from the producers and giving to the non-producers.  A cornerstone of socialism and communism.
4. O has begun to neuter our military by cutting their budget while giving money away to unions who in turn give the money back to him via donations to his political party.
5. O is destroying our ability to be energy independent by imposing onerous regulations, not allowing drilling, not allowing pipelines and power stations to be built.  He is doing this I think to force citizens to move to green energy by making carbon based energy even more expensive than green energy.
6. Raise the tax rates on job producers so the government can give away more money to non-producers makes a lot of sense.   Something like 43% of the US population pays no taxes.  There are more people collecting food stamps than ever before. 
7. The destruction of jobs and job market is directly due to the policies of this administration.  We get a lot of talk about jobs but if you look, only government jobs are being created.   This fits the socialist template of growing government and making all citizens dependant on the government.

My father, my father-in-law, my son and I have all been in the military fighting for our freedoms and rights.  My father-in-law gave his life for his country.  I see Obama as a real threat to what we have fought and died for.  He and his ilk are systematically tearing down our nation.

I hope this gives you a bit of an idea where I stand and why I will never give up the fight.
